Using PR To Grow Your Business

Just finished up an interview on with Dionne Watts-Williams who is the CEO of Inspired Creative Group on The Ms. Boss Show, which is our weekly radio show bringing you the best of the business for small businesses.  We discussed some great tips about getting PR for your business.  PR is a great way to grow your business, but you have to have news that is timely and relevant.  Make sure to come up with a good hook for your news piece before you send it out.  If your PR budget is low, use some creativity to help get your message out there.  Also remember to make sure that you send your message to the right media.  It is truly a waste of time pitching a story to a media outlet that does not cover your industry.  So make sure you do your home work and target the right media group.

If you have a small media budget around $150 I would like to suggest the two press release distributors that I use when I want to make sure my news get to the desk of editors.  I use www.PRWEB.com and I use www.BlackPR.com.  Both of these are great sources and they help you target your audience effectively.  Every time I use Black PR my company get written up in a publication somewhere.  When people read a news story about you versus an ad it gives you more credibility.

I hope this information was helpful.  Please feel free to leave your comments or PR suggestions.  I would love to hear from you.

Taking Technology To Liberia

Check Out This Amazing Phone
Check Out This Amazing Phone

I'm really excited about this company that I recently joined called 5Linx. I swore to myself that I would not join another company, but this company had something that really interest me. It had technology and the opportunity for me to take the technology to Liberia. As most of you know I have been in the planning stages of going to Liberia so that I can start the ball rolling with building The Ms. Boss Business Center there. During all of my research, I found out that land line phones are pretty much non-existent and that most of the people there use mobile phones to stay in contact and in some parts of Africa also as way to grow their business. This is why I am so excited about this company and the telephone technology that they have. The Video phone will not only allow the women who are a part of the center to reach out to others but it will empower them to do business like they have never done it before. The excitement for me is knowing that once I complete the center I can be in touch with the women anytime and any place. So when I return back home we will all have our video phones to communicate. The technology that the phone has will also allow me and my partners to mentor the women via conference calling from the phone. To find out more about this amazing phone click on AMAZING PHONE

The National Publicity Summit

Once a year I am asked from the guys over at Bradley Communications to be a panelist for their National Publicity Summit.  When time allow I do oblige.  So today I attended the National Publicity Summit  which is held in New York City as a media panelist and I am really excited about some of the people that I met there who had written books.  Let me give you brief idea about what the summit is about.

Steve and Nick are brothers and twice a year they bring in people who are in media and then they bring in authors and business owners who want to pitch the media on their book or their business.  Each participant get 21/2 minutes to talk to the media person of their choice to pitch them.  So being that I am in media I get pitched for about 3 hours.  I really enjoy doing the summit because some of the people you meet and some of the stories you hear are just amazing.  The other good thing about the summit is that I get to meet with my peers and share great conversation and story ideas.

Over the next few weeks I will be bringing you interviews and posts from some of these people as they share how they have managed to self-publish and sell hundreds of thousand of books, how they got publishing deals with major publishers and those rags to riches stories.

So make sure to continue to stop by and check us out.  Please feel free to leave us your comment and to also share this blog with your friends.

Multiple Streams Of Income

I was in Barnes & Noble yesterday for a meeting.  Because I love Barnes & Noble I stayed behind after the meeting was over so that I could browse through some of my favorite magazines.  Well I was approached by a young man who invited me to a meeting about something that he was doing with this video phone.  Earlier this month I was approached by another young man with the same invitation.  I took a look at the first mans product, but even though it had great features the company had no presence in Africa.  Well the company presented to me by the second man has a presence in Africa and West Africa at that which is where I will be building the Women's Business Center in Liberia.

So I went to the meeting and I looked at the opportunity and I was really impressed for a number reasons.  One was the technology behind the video phone, the fact that they were already in Africa and all of the wonderful benefits that the company offered its representative.  So after I slept on the idea of starting another business, I decided to go with this one even though I had sworn to myself that I wouldn't start anything else.

I am always approached about joining something, and normally I decline, but this opportunity was one that was really something that I could see myself involved with.  For one thing I love technology and how it can even the playing field for small business owners everywhere.  I could not sleep trying for to figure out how I could incorporate this business into my existing businesses and when I woke up this morning I had the answer.

I am in the business of inspiring and empowering people.  This business fits right in with my core values and top of that it will also add another stream of income to my already multiple streams of income.

As I move forward  I will keep you in the know about what I am doing with this and how I am transforming lives.

What Does Web TV Mean For Small Business Owners

I remember back about 1996 or so when Web TV was first introduced. My friend and I purchased this box in this little blue bag that hooked up to your TV and you could look at the web right on your TV set. I was excited back then because at the time it was offered as a business opportunity and I thought that it was a way for me to earn a living selling these web-TV boxes. Well fast forward about 14 years and Web TV is back again and more people are in the game, but two of the major players are Google and Apple. Once again I am excited, but this time I am excited because I am already in business and I can see what that means to me and other small business owners. It means more exposure for our business for an affordable rate with a wider reach. We will soon be able to reach the living rooms of our potential customers for a fraction of what it would cost if we were trying to accomplish this via traditional TV advertising. So for those of you who are not using video to grow your business, you are missing an incredible opportunity for exposure. Most people are visual and my question to you is Can They See You? If they can't you had better change that.

Getting Motivated

Man I've had so much going on over the past couple of months.  I just returned from a funeral in Georgia and although it was a sad occasion I really enjoyed being with my family.  Now that I am back and kind of behind in my work I am feeling a little overwhelmed and finding it hard to up my motivation level to where it normally is.  So one thing that I decided to do was just do one thing on my list of things to do so that I could feel like I accomplished something.  The funny thing is when I did that one thing I went on to do two more things which writing this blog and writing my Becoming Me blog as well.  So I guess the lesson here is that if you are feeling like your motivation has dried up just do one thing and this one thing will lead to you doing another thing and before you know it you have some momentum and more gets done.
